About Me

Born in Sierra Leone and raised in the United States, my path into mental health and humanitarian work is deeply personal.

Experiences of forced displacement and rebuilding across cultures have shaped my understanding of resilience and belonging, and continue to guide my work, grounded in cultural humility, compassion, and accountability.

Professional Background

As a Board Certified Mental Health Practitioner operating at the intersection of healing and systems transformation, my work integrates clinical practice with expertise in trauma-informed care, gender-based violence (GBV), mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and cross-cultural psychoeducation. With a healing-centered and culturally responsive approach, I support individuals and communities navigating trauma, displacement, systemic inequities, and complex psychosocial challenges.

Through clinical care, psychoeducation, program development, and systems-informed advocacy, my work emphasizes resilience-building, survivor-centered care, and the advancement of trauma-responsive frameworks that promote long-term wellbeing. I remain committed to expanding equitable access to mental health support while fostering dignity, safety, and sustainable healing across diverse communities.

Global Work

My global and humanitarian work focuses on strengthening trauma-responsive systems, advancing psychosocial wellbeing, and supporting community-based approaches to care across diverse cultural and crisis-affected settings.

This work includes overseeing national refugee integration programming, advancing gender-based violence prevention initiatives, contributing to emergency mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) responses with the United Nations Migration Agency (IOM), and supporting community mental health and workforce development initiatives in Sierra Leone.

Across these contexts, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, humanitarian actors, and community stakeholders has centered on developing culturally responsive programming, strengthening service delivery systems, and expanding access to mental health support for displaced and historically underserved populations.
